Summer News!

The summer has flown by here at NEC, with shows and other excitement! At the end of July, we took six horses and riders to the Friends of The Park Silver and Gold competition held at the Nepean National Equestrian Park. Everyone had great rides: Lea and NEC Kairos were Reserve Champions in the Open Training division, Allie and Meg both continued to get some great scores in the JR First Level classes with some super placings, Madi and Taliesan rode some lovely tests in the Open Fourth Level, gaining more ring experience each time and Nancy and Kizmer made their first ever show debut together at Third Level, it was a great show for everyone! Many thanks to the organizers for such a super show and NEC was proud to sponsor a Fourth Level Class!

From there, we headed to the Spiritwood Silver Show in August where Addie and Parker made their debut at Training Level, we were very proud of both of them as this was such a new partnership and they came home with scores over 60%! Rhonda and Don Deimos and Meg and Tempo Primo continued to ride lovely first level tests and were Adult Amateur First Level Champions and JR First Level Champions, respectively. Rhonda also continues to be undefeated in the freestyle division with her "Christmas in PEI" Freestyle.

At the end of August, Addie and Rhonda managed to get some fantastic scores despite the heat at the Huntleigh Silver show, our last one before Eastern Ontario Championships. The following weekend, Ginette Sheen and Wizard headed off to the Spiritwood Discovery show where they rode two second level tests, both to scores over 60%!

In other news, in the middle of August, we said good-bye with a BBQ to our summer working student Miranda Amey as she heads off to Guelph University, we had so much fun over the summer and hope that she and Bentley enjoy Guelph!

A warm welcome to our new boarders, Amie Bramwell Dunse and Kristina Panchuk with their lovely second level gelding, Haandel.

Congratulations to our Barn Manager, Lea Mitchell, who purchased NEC Kairos. Lea has done all the training and showing on Kai and they make a wonderful team!

Two new horses have arrived over the summer, both of which Aliy will be riding and competing: Don Dior, a lovely three year old Hanoverian mare by DeNiro out of a W line mare, owned by Balmoral Investments and By Design, a wonderful four year old KWPN gelding by Ferro, owned by Trish Roberts. These are fantastic young horses, and it is very exciting to be riding both of them!
