Summer at NEC

It has been a very busy few months here at NEC with show season now in full swing! The horses and riders have been enjoying the fabulous weather and the riding outside. The season started off with Aliy and B heading back down to Newmarket for another few days of training with Jacquie Brooks, they had a great time, it is a lovely facility with very friendly people and super lessons! We've also been busy with ship-in lessons, ongoing farm renovations, including a new viewing area in the indoor and keeping up with all the horses in training. In May, Roo had his second birthday and in June, DeeDee (aka Don Dior) turned 4, these two young horses are such a pleasure to have!

Our first show this year was the Ottawa Dressage Festival at the end of May, although it was very wet, the organizers did a phenomenal job keeping everything running smoothly.  At the festival, everyone moved up a level from last year with great results! Adelise Lalande and Park Lane were JR First Level Reserve Champions with scores up to 65%! Rhonda and Allie both made their Second Level debuts in the JR and AA divisions respectively, receiving good scores and great feedback. Lea and Kai also competed in the First Level Open division, placing well in tough competition!

In June, we headed off to the Spiritwood discovery show with Armani, Lark,Shetan and Tempo, who is currently being leased by Sheila Trusdale. The horses were wonderful and got some great scores! Next, it was on to the Huntingford Gold show with Dom, Haandel and Tempo, Meg and Rhonda placed first and second in their first class, Amie won her second level freestyle and Meg with Tempo finished the day as Second Level Open Champions! After Huntingford it was back to the Park for the NNEP Discovery show where the horses received some excellent scores! Paula won her training level class, Marilyn and Armani made their show ring debut together, Sheila was First Level Champion and Julia with Shetan had some great rides!

In July we attended the Friends of The Park show with Tempo, Dom, Kai, Russian and Brody. The weather was wonderful and the horses went super! Tempo and Dom had lovely tests at second level with scores in the sixties, as did Kai in the first level tests, Nancy and Russian had some good scores at third level and Brody, in his debut at training level, had scores up to 65%!

In August we will be attending the Spiritwood Silver, Beaulieu Gold and Huntingford Silver Shows. We also hope to have a fall clinic oraganized. Stay cool!
